Man Made Floating Islands

The floating islands of Peru in Lake Titicaca (near Puno) are an amazing site. The islands are made of reeds, which need to be maintained every 6 months or so as the man made islands sink ever so slowly.

The people that live on these islands, the Uros, having being doing it for centuries in defense of other cultures which no longer pose a threat.
